Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2026
Welcome
These Terms of Service are our promise to you about the kind of space we're creating—and your invitation to be part of it.
We believe children learn best when they feel safe, curious, and free to be themselves. These terms help us protect that feeling while being clear about what we each bring to this partnership.
We've written this in plain language because trust starts with clarity. If anything here doesn't make sense, please ask us—we'd rather explain than hide behind jargon.
By using Kidfriendly, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Who Can Use Kidfriendly
Adults (Parents, Guardians, Caregivers)
You must be at least 18 years old to create an adult account. When you create an account, you're confirming you have the legal authority to agree to these terms—either for yourself or on behalf of your household.
Children
Children don't sign up directly. They enter Kidfriendly through the care of a trusted adult—there's no pressure to "join" or provide personal information. They simply arrive in a space that's been prepared for them.
By adding a child to your account, you confirm you're their parent, guardian, or authorised caregiver, and you consent to their use of Kidfriendly.
We design our service for children aged 5–12, aligned with Key Stages 1 and 2. We aim to align content to the National Curriculum for England, but we're not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department for Education or the Standards and Testing Agency, and curriculum guidance can change over time.
Your Account
Creating an Account
Adults sign up using an email address. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure. Please don't share your password—if you think someone else has accessed your account, let us know immediately.
Child Profiles
Child accounts use visual memory authentication (picture-based login) rather than passwords. Children don't need to provide real names, email addresses, or other contact details to use Kidfriendly. You can read more about how we protect your child's privacy—and their right to simply be a child while learning—in our Privacy Policy.
Your Responsibilities
You know your child best. We've built Kidfriendly to be safe for independent play, but we encourage you to stay involved—whether that's celebrating their wins, checking in on their progress, or simply asking what they discovered today. You decide the level of engagement that feels right for your family.
As your child grows, their relationship with technology changes. We've designed this platform to be a safe space for them to practise independent problem-solving. We encourage you to shift from "director" to "supporter" as they mature—the platform grows with them.
How Children Use Kidfriendly
Kidfriendly is designed for children to explore, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace.
What Children Can Do
- Complete learning activities through play
- See their own progress through friendly visual feedback
- Build confidence through challenges that feel "just right"—challenging enough to be interesting, easy enough to feel achievable
What Children Cannot Do
- Contact other users or share personal information
- Access content outside their learning activities
- Make purchases or change account settings
Our approach is informed by learning science and classroom practice: children tend to learn best when work is neither too easy nor too hard, and when progress feels safe and encouraging. We design sessions to reduce frustration—especially by avoiding long streaks of struggle—and to help children feel safe to try, make mistakes, and keep going.
Our Content and Your Content
Our Content
All learning materials, illustrations, and educational content on Kidfriendly belong to us (or our licensors). You may use this content only through normal use of the service.
Your Content
When your child uses Kidfriendly, we process their answers and learning activity (like progress and session information) to personalise practice and show progress to the adults on the account. Like sandcastles at low tide, we aim to keep as little childhood data as possible—only what we need to provide and improve learning. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
You can request access, export, or deletion of your (or your child's) data by contacting us, as described in our Privacy Policy.
What We Promise (and What We Can't)
What We Promise
- To put children's welfare first in every design decision
- To protect your family's data with care
- To keep improving our content and approach
- To be transparent about how the service works
- To respond to your questions and concerns
What We Can't Promise
We want to be honest about limitations:
- Learning journeys: Every child learns beautifully and differently. Some days they'll sparkle, some days they'll wobble—that's not failure, that's being human. We provide a space where trying is celebrated, not just succeeding. We can't promise specific test scores or timelines.
- Perfect availability: We aim for reliable service, but technology sometimes fails. We may have downtime for maintenance or unexpected issues.
- Error-free content: We work hard to ensure accuracy, but if you spot a mistake, please tell us.
What We Are (and Aren't)
Kidfriendly is a practice and learning-support tool. It isn't a school, a teacher, medical advice, or a diagnostic service. If you have concerns about your child's learning or wellbeing, please speak with a qualified professional (like their teacher or GP).
Keeping Kidfriendly Safe for Everyone
We want every child to feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and grow. To keep this space welcoming:
- Use it for learning and play—not for anything that might confuse or harm children
- Keep accounts personal—don't share login details outside your family
- Be kind to the system—don't try to break it or use automated tools
- Let adults be adults—children shouldn't create their own accounts without a grown-up
Part of creating a safe space means using the tools honestly. We encourage children to try their best, make mistakes, and learn from them. Using the platform just to "guess through" answers doesn't help the system adapt to their true needs—and more importantly, it blocks their own growth.
If something doesn't feel right, trust that instinct and talk to us. We reserve the right to pause access if we need to protect the community, but we'll always try to have a conversation first.
Changes to Service or Terms
Changes to the Service
We're constantly learning from families to make Kidfriendly better. This means features may change or improve over time. We promise to communicate significant changes clearly, so you're never left guessing.
Changes to These Terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we'll notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
Ending Your Account
You Can Leave Anytime
You can delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. When you delete your account, we'll remove your data according to our Privacy Policy.
We Value Stability
We understand that interrupting a child's learning routine can be upsetting. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms, but we aim to do so only as a last resort and, whenever possible, with fair warning and a conversation.
Legal Protections
We work hard to make Kidfriendly emotionally safe and supportive for children. However, from a legal perspective, we must state:
The service is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, Kidfriendly's total liability for any claims arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or £50, whichever is greater).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't legally be excluded.
General Terms
- Governing Law: These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Entire Agreement: These terms (plus our Privacy Policy) are the complete agreement between us.
- Severability: If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
