KS2 (Year 6) SATs past papers

Updated

KS2 (Year 6) past papers are useful because they show what SATs questions feel like. They also help families spot whether a wobble is really about content, confidence, timing, or just unfamiliar wording.

A simple approach works better than treating every paper like a final rehearsal:

  1. Use small chunks (10 to 15 questions), not full papers every time.
  2. Review together and name the pattern behind each mistake.
  3. Practise the pattern before doing another paper section.

If you want the official papers on GOV.UK, start with the subject you need:

Note: There are no official KS2 SATs papers for 2020 or 2021. Those years were cancelled due to COVID-19, so any papers claiming to be from those years are unofficial.

If you want older Year 6 papers too, you can apply for free access to our Year 6 past papers library, which includes papers from 2016 to 2019.

What to watch for as a parent

  • Is your child rushing because the format feels unfamiliar?
  • Are mistakes concentrated in one topic (fractions, inference, punctuation)?
  • Does your child recover after an error, or spiral?

SATs prep should improve both skill and emotional steadiness. If either one is missing, adjust the plan.
